Job summary

The University of Calgary's Access and Privacy Office is seeking a Full-time Regular Senior Specialist, Privacy to advise faculties, conduct PIAs, respond to privacy incidents, and support privacy program enhancements across the institution.

The role participates in GDPR-related matters, policy development, and training to ensure responsible handling of personal information in line with legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• University degree in a related field.
• Experience with privacy legislation in Alberta/Canada is an asset.
• Certifications such as IAPP/CIAPP/CIPP are assets.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve the University's privacy management program and guidance.
• Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for programs, projects and systems.
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and privacy reviews.
• Lead privacy reviews for software acquisitions and renewals.
• Investigate privacy incidents and breaches and provide recommendations.
• Train faculty, staff and researchers on privacy practices and compliance.
• Monitor privacy legislation, case law and best practices.
