Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking a senior Mine Permitting leader to guide regulatory strategies for major Canadian mining projects.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams across mining, environment, and water to deliver high-quality permit applications. You will build relationships with mining companies, Indigenous Nations, regulators, and industry groups, guiding permitting decisions while mentoring the next generation of professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geoscience, Natural Resources, or a related discipline.
• Professional designation such as P.Eng., P.Geo., R.P.Bio., RPF, or equivalent is considered an asset.
• 15+ years of progressive experience within the mining industry.
• Strong understanding of BC’s mine permitting regulatory environment and closure requirements.

• Drive growth of WSP's Mine Permitting practice across British Columbia, identifying and pursuing opportunities.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with mining companies, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Guide regulatory and permitting strategies for major mining projects; navigate complex approval processes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate permitting into mine development and planning.
• Represent WSP at executive meetings and industry events to elevate the firm's profile.
• Provide technical oversight and quality review of permitting deliverables.
• Mentor permitting professionals and project managers; contribute to capability growth.
• Monitor regulatory trends to shape strategic direction and client solutions across mining.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geoscience, Natural Resources, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of progressive experience within the mining industry.
• Extensive experience leading mine permitting and regulatory approval processes in British Columbia that bring multidisciplinary technical studies together into integrated, high-quality permit applications.
• Strong understanding of BC’s mine permitting regulatory environment, application requirements, and closure and reclamation requirements.
• Experience advising clients on how UNDRIP and DRIPA are shaping mine permitting in BC and translating those requirements into practical permitting strategies.
• Established network of relationships with mining companies, regulators, industry organizations, and project stakeholders across British Columbia.
• Demonstrated success building client relationships, developing business opportunities, and securing new work within the mining sector.
• Professional designation such as P.Eng., P.Geo., R.P.Bio., RPF, or equivalent is considered an asset.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills with the ability to engage executive-level audiences and lead strategic discussions.

Compensation

• AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $163,300 - $216,300
• MB & ON: $149,000 - $205,100
• NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $147,500 - $1695,800
