Overview

The Senior Principal HSES Specialist is tasked with proactively solving unique and complex HSES-related problems that broadly impact the business. They impact the direction and resource allocation of programs and projects in their discipline and work within general functional policies and industry guidelines. The Senior Principal HSES Specialist requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to HSES challenges.

Base Salary

Base Salary Range: 150,000.00 - 192,000.00. The range provided is for base salary only (40 hours per week). In addition, McDermott offers additional contracted hours, and a competitive total rewards package, including project up-lift & bonuses.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in HSES related field.
  • NEBOSH Certification considered an asset
  • Mechanical and/or Electrical LOTO based experience would be considered an asset.
  • Commissioning HSE experience would be considered an asset
  • Seven – eight (8-9) years of HSE Experience within the Energy Industry.
  • Familiarity with company, facility, and project-specific HSES terms, requirements, and deliverables.
  • Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Sharepoint) and other relevant online applications.
  • Team leadership, budget development, document drafting & reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and drive a common and consistent risk based HSE Culture.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of the HSE Management System (HSE-MS) in line with corporate, legislative, and client requirements.
  • Develop and review performance goals and HSES objectives and targets, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop an integrated approach to the HSES Risk Management process.
  • Prepare HSES budget and ensure compliance.
  • Participate and provide inputs as required and ensure mitigating controls remain suitable and sufficient.
  • Monitor compliance with HSES regulatory and other applicable requirements and manage changes.
  • Manage, monitor, and advise on all matters related to HSES.
  • Provide technical and commercial support during the tendering stage.
  • Prepare the HSES budget and ensure compliance.
  • Engage in pre and post-award contractor management process.
  • Plan and execute the internal and external HSES audits and compliance assurance programs.
  • HSES resources and recruitment planning.
  • Engage in professional development to lead HSES changes in technology and systems.
  • Supervise HSES personnel to support their professional development through competency assurance programs.
  • Lead and direct incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Act as a management-level liaison with clients.
  • Conduct business travel as necessary to support project / operations requirements.
  • Communicate with and advise management on issues and concerns relating to projects and site operations requiring HSE support and guidance.
  • Communicate, present, or justify overall HSE performance to management as necessary.
  • Manage and maintain permits to work and project LOTO requirements
  • Support and maintain commissioning hse project requirements
