Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a B6 Senior Staff Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Highpoint, a Category C Prison located in the village of Stradishall in Suffolk. The Primary Care team consists of Senior Primary Care Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Non-Medical Prescribers. Highpoint is split into two sites; the North Building houses around 390 males and the South Building around 950 males. Both sites have designated Healthcare Departments where you will be based.

Hours
  • Monday - Sunday service 37.5 hours per week.
  • 7.45am - 18:15pm; no night shifts.
  • Every other weekend and bank holiday included as part of rota.
  • 4 week rolling rota.
  • Open to discuss lower hours.

*Please note transport by car is recommended due to location of the prison.

Qualifications and requirements

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
  • Understanding of the complexities of multidisciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach.
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is beneficial but not essential.
Main duties and responsibilities
  • You will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions.
  • You will undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
  • Seek out, listen to and act on patient feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference, as defined by the Health in Justice competency framework.
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with partners and stakeholders and providing a service that people can trust, feel safe within, and feel proud of.
  • Evidence-based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.
  • Build strong multidisciplinary teams and support colleagues to do a great job.
