Senior Power System Study Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Power System Study Engineer to perform advanced grounding, lightning protection, bus, and induction studies for utility, industrial, and renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience using tools such as CDEGS and WinIGS, and a strong foundation in electromagnetic transient analysis. This role involves interpreting system configurations, creating accurate models, and delivering high‑quality technical reports to support project engineering and safety compliance.

This role will be based in Vancouver, BC or Toronto, ON or Winnipeg, MB.

Your role within the team:
  • Conduct grounding system design and analysis, including grid resistance, touch/step voltage, and fault current distribution.
  • Perform lightning protection studies, surge analysis, and shielding assessments.
  • Execute induction studies for overhead lines and pipelines to evaluate AC interference and mitigation strategies.
  • Model and analyze bus configurations for short‑circuit, thermal, and electromagnetic performance.
  • Utilize software tools such as CDEGS, WinIGS, and optionally PSCAD or EMTP to simulate and analyze power system phenomena.
  • Generate detailed technical reports, calculations, and drawings.
  • Coordinate with project managers, utilities, and clients to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE 80, IEEE 665, NESC, NEC).
  • Support multidisciplinary teams in substation, transmission, and industrial facility design.

Expected compensation
