Purpose
We are looking for a Senior Portfolio Director to join our Calgary office to lead our Multi Projects Group. The Senior Portfolio Director will provide direction and leadership to facilitate the effective completion of projects within an assigned portfolio of work. The Senior Portfolio Director will maintain an integrated view of the customers objectives, leveraging synergies and resources across the entire portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Typically manages a portfolio of small to medium size projects for multiple recurring clients, with daily operational responsibilities which may have global implications.
- Responsible for implementing and administering project and Worley policies and procedures to successfully achieve portfolio objectives.
- Works with others on the portfolio team to develop annual business plan.
- Produces integrated solutions to strategic issues and presents recommendations to customers.
- Works frequently with executive management on significant matters influencing the organization’s business results, which typically include global strategies.
- Assigns project work and gives technical guidance to people assigned to work on small to medium sized projects. Reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
- Sets a strong HSE example and develops/supports portfolio specific HSE plans and initiatives.
- Effectively leads portfolio team comprised of multiple project leaders and a multi-discipline team.
- Understands the business strategy and translates into team goals and objectives and gains team commitment to achieving those goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates the ability to build support for ideas, presenting alternatives and recommendations persuasively.
- Ensures methodologies, processes, tools and systems as set out in portfolio contract are used throughout the portfolio and compliance requirements are met/satisfied.
- Monitors cost and schedule and uses analytical skill to forecast trends for individual projects and overall portfolio.
- Experienced in developing and reviewing Project Execution Plans.
- Effectively communicate and take a leadership role in preparing and presenting proposals and reports to team and management.
- Communicates effectively about sensitive and/or complex subjects of strategic importance to influence desired outcomes.
- Manages customer representatives and other significant stakeholders, including winning over those with negative perspectives about the portfolio relationship.
- Develops a relationship of trust and respect with ability to discuss project and portfolio progress, challenges and issues in a transparent manner.
- Skilled to manage significant conflict situations with a variety of individuals including customer and other stakeholders.
- Understands commercial and legal risks in the contract, prepares and manages mitigation plans.
- Implements risk and opportunity management across portfolio per the Worley risk management standards and procedures.
Technical and Industry Experience
- Extensive and relevant supervisory, project management and/or technical experience; Portfolio Manager experience leading small to medium sized project portfolios, includes multiple sites and EPCM services; Workshare experience; Multi-Cultural / Multi-National environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex portfolios with high-risk elements.
- Comprehensive understanding of project execution, project management, and project control methodologies.
- Full life cycle project management experience (Pre-FEED to Commissioning).
- Strong interpersonal skills are supported by effective decision making and influential negotiation skills.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training, Skills
- University Degree, or equivalent, in related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Professional registration in local jurisdiction; Certified Project and/or Portfolio Management Professional by a globally recognized project management organization (IPMA, APM, PMI, AIPM).
