Job summary

A municipal government in British Columbia is seeking a qualified professional for a technical and regulatory assessment role in plumbing. The successful candidate will conduct inspections, ensure compliance with regulations, and mentor new inspectors. Candidates must have a Journeyman Plumber certification and extensive experience in plumbing systems. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in plumbing.
  • Five years of work experience as a journeyman plumber and gas fitter.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite inspections of plumbing, gas, and drainage systems.
  • Deal with contractors and the public regarding inspection issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections.

Skills

Knowledge of plumbing, gas-fitting and sewer-connection codes
Communication skills
Relationship building
Ability to use software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)

Education

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
Journeyman Plumber Certification
BC Class B Gas Fitter Certification
