Job summary

RBC is seeking a Platform Engineer on the WMTS- Data Platform Infrastructure Team in Technology & Operations. You will provide expert technical and business support for Linux, Windows, and Cloud platforms, manage security patches, perform OS upgrades, and implement monitoring to ensure stability.

You will collaborate with development, operations, and QA teams on projects, upgrades and issue resolution, while adhering to security standards and leveraging automation to enhance support

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with OpenShift, Linux or Windows environments.
  • Public and Private cloud knowledge, with Azure, AWS & S3.
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Shell, JavaScript, etc. Database knowledge an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day support for Wealth Management Data applications platforms including Linux, Windows and Cloud (public & private).
  • Take ownership of security patches and updates for operating systems and applications to ensure DMI platforms meet RBC security & compliance standards.
  • Perform upgrades to the operating system and middle-tier applications to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve errors and issues reported by users.
  • Setup monitoring and alerts for the Data platforms to ensure stability & resiliency.
  • Leads Platform initiatives from end to end to ensure initiative will be completed successfully.
  • Create, maintain, and update knowledge base documentation for the supported systems. This includes documenting troubleshooting steps, and best practices for issue resolution. Explore opportunities to leverage automation tools and technologies to enhance support capabilities.
  • Actively participate in projects related to technology upgrades, system integrations, and process enhancements. Perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of the WMTS- Data Platform Infrastructure Team and the organization.

Job description

Are you interested in working as a Platform Engineer on the WMTS- Data Platform Infrastructure Team in Technology & Operations at the Royal Bank of Canada?

RBC`s WMTS- Data Platform Infrastructure Team is responsible for the communication, collaboration, integration, automation, and providing a range of operational, business, technical, and system support & solutions to address business, sponsor & stakeholder needs and resolve day-to-day issues.

This role will provide expert technical and business support, hardware and operating system support and system integration support for existing platforms. You will collaborate with development, operations, and quality assurance teams on projects, upgrades and resolve technical issues while adhering to security compliance and following best practices. In addition, you will collaborate with upstream/downstream system consumers and services providers, 3rd party vendor partners, and operation partners.

What will you do?

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with OpenShift, Linux or Windows environments.
