A regional government agency seeks a Senior Payroll Specialist to oversee payroll services, ensuring compliance with policies and accurate processing of payroll transactions. The role includes providing guidance to management and managing year-end processes. Ideal candidates should hold a Payroll Compliance Professional certification and have four years of related experience. This position offers a Northern Living Allowance and relocation assistance.
The Senior Payroll Specialist works as a team of four specialists, and provides financial services related to payroll activities ensuring appropriate and effective internal financial controls are in place and adhered to. This position is also responsible for ensuring all financially related payroll activities are coordinated, accurate, timely, and followed through to completion. This role also is responsible for accurate and timely payment and reconciliation of payroll liability general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
The Senior Payroll Specialist also calculates daily compensation rates for all assigned claims where a worker is entitled to compensation for work related injury or disease, arising out of and during the course of employment. The incumbent gathers, assesses and determines the annual renumeration and then inputs relevant data into the Wage Calculator, and communicates benefit information to Claims/Pensions staff once the rate has been determined.
May be considered based on a one‑year of directly related experience equivalent to one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
