Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We’re bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior or Lead Project Controls Specialist. This role is critical to the successful, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery of large-scale capital projects within the Mining, Minerals, and Metals sector. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in all facets of project control, including cost, schedule, estimating, and reporting, and will work closely with Project Management and Executive Leadership.

Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning and Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain integrated master schedules (Level 3‑5) using Primavera P6 for all project phases (Feasibility, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning).
  • Perform critical path analysis to identify potential delays and proactively advise the Project Manager on mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Manage and control the scheduling baseline, ensuring all changes are tracked and approved via the formal change management process.
  • Oversee the progress measurement system (physical and earned value) and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for accurate reporting.
2. Cost Control and Forecasting
  • Establish, maintain, and manage the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS).
  • Develop and manage the detailed project budget and cash flow forecasts, including monthly and quarterly updates.
  • Implement and maintain Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to accurately track performance, calculate performance indicators (SPI and CPI), and determine the Estimate At Completion (EAC).
  • Monitor and control expenditures, analyze variances, and track actual costs against budget and forecast.
  • Support the development of internal estimates and external proposals for capital projects.
3. Reporting, Analysis, and Leadership (Lead Focus)
  • Prepare and present comprehensive monthly project status reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key issues, trends, and corrective actions.
  • Lead the change management process, including the tracking and analysis of scope deviations (Trend Analysis and Potential Change Orders).
  • For the Lead role: May manage, mentor, and train a team of junior Project Controls Analysts/Specialists.
  • Champion adherence to all project controls procedures and governance frameworks across the project team.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
  • Senior‑level, progressive experience in Project Controls for large‑scale EPC/EPCM industrial projects.
  • Direct experience within the Mining, Minerals, or Metals sectors is essential (greenfield, brownfield, or major capital expansion).
  • Expert‑level proficiency in Primavera P6 for scheduling and resource loading.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel for complex data analysis, modelling, and reporting (Power Query, Pivot Tables).
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex data clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
Desired Assets
  • Experience with integrated project management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, InEight, EcoSys, Power BI).
  • Previous experience in a Lead or supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of Canadian regulatory and permitting processes related to mining projects.

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $106,415 to $158,017. Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
