Job description

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.

Lyft connects people to transportation to change the way we live and get around our communities. Lyft is North America’s leader in micromobility. We provide the software that powers BIXI, and we own and/or operate bikeshare in New York (Citi Bike), Chicago (Divvy), San Francisco (Bay Wheels), Portland (Biketown), Boston (BlueBikes), and DC (Capital Bikeshare). Our software is used in over 45 markets to power bike and scooter systems, increasing our reach beyond the markets we operate directly.

We are looking for a passionate Senior Product Designer to join our Montreal office to work on Lyft’s micromobility Operations Technology team.

As a member of the Operations Technology team, you’ll be responsible for evolving the platform that drives the global on-the-ground operations of our business. You’ll be designing features that are used in warehouses, vans, & on-the-ground to make our transportation systems some of the most reliable in the world. You’ll confront complex technical challenges & advocate for experiences that delight our operators and promote efficiency.

Our Montreal office developed the first automated bikes-share system in North America and continues to work on the platform today that provides state-of-the‑art electric bikes and scooters for tens of millions of rides per year.

As a Senior Product Designer at Lyft, you will be involved at every step of product development, from brainstorming broad ideas to ensuring design quality through launch. Using your full range of interaction, visual, and product thinking skills. As a product designer on the Lyft Urban Solutions team you will own the design of features within the core rider experience for our bike and scooter riders, within the Lyft app and our market specific apps.

In a lot of ways, we function as a startup, meaning we all work closely and collaboratively across organizations to align on product vision and ship products. Our Design and Research teams live and breathe a user-centered process to create the best possible, end-to-end, experience for riders all over the world. We can be scrappy when we need to be, though we are always focused on quality and influence.

As a qualified candidate, you have a track record of leading projects to successful outcomes for users and the business. You are a strong cross-functional partner, a great communicator, and are able to take a solution from idea to implementation. You uphold a high-quality bar and have a strong appreciation for the details. Above all, you approach problems holistically and create elegantly simple solutions to multi‑faceted problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Problem solve, think big, and explore divergent concepts/ideas while understanding how to converge and build iteratively towards your vision.
  • Plan strategically and think tactically as a partner with product and engineering to define the future of the team.
  • Influence the shape of the product with research and data while executing design work using high quality wireframes, mockups, user journeys, and cross‑platform interactive prototypes.
  • Advocate for design by sharing your work and presenting cross‑functionally, while being able to precisely articulate design rationale.
  • Inspire the entire team (including your cross‑functional) partners by bringing new ideas to the table.
  • Create a unified, end‑to‑end experience through close collaboration with team members from across the Product and Marketing Design Teams.
Experience:
  • 6+ years of experience working in UX, UI, HCI related field with experience working on web and mobile design.
  • Experience working with a lean team of Engineers, Product Managers and Program Managers.
  • Experience designing innovative products for desktop and mobile.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with user research methods and analysis.
  • Expertise with Figma and other prototyping tools.
  • Excellence in design craft.
  • Ability to work with a low‑ego, highly collaborative, cross‑functional team.
  • Excited about working in a fast‑paced, dynamic startup environment.

Even if you don't directly have the skills above, please consider applying. We know talent takes many different shapes.

Benefits:
  • Extended health and dental coverage options, along with life insurance and disability benefits.
  • Mental health benefits.
  • Family building benefits.
  • Pet benefits.
  • Access to a Lyft funded Health Care Savings Account.
  • RRSP plan with company match to help save for your future.
  • In addition to provincial observed holidays, salaried team members are covered under Lyft's flexible paid time off policy. The policy allows team members to take off as much time as they need (with manager approval). Hourly team members get 15 days paid time off, with an additional day for each year of service.
  • Lyft is proud to support new parents with 18 weeks of paid time off, designed as a top‑up plan to complement provincial programs. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible.
  • Subsidized commuter benefits and Lyft ride credits.
