Job description

PETRONAS Canada is one of the largest natural gas resource owners in Canada. We have operations in the Montney play in northeast British Columbia and are a partner in LNG Canada. As part of PETRONAS, a dynamic global energy group with presence in over 100 countries, we are well-positioned to provide global markets with responsibly-developed Canadian energy while supporting local jobs, collaborating with Indigenous communities and protecting the environment.

At PETRONAS Canada, we are committed to building Canada’s energy future – and people are fundamental to our success. We foster a culture of open collaboration and empowerment across our team of skilled professionals, while supporting career development opportunities. We are looking for can-do problem solvers to join our team who are innovative and passionate about driving strong safety, operational and sustainability performance in everything we do. Our unique culture and commitment to growth makes the company a great place to build your career.

THE ROLE:

PETRONAS Energy Canada is looking for a Senior Network Analyst to manage and evolve the network architecture supporting Canadian corporate, field, and operational environments. As a senior, hands-on member of the Network and Information Security team, the role is primarily focused on enterprise networking, operational reliability, secure connectivity, and the future direction of the network landscape.

The successful candidate will work across Digital & Technology Services, Operations, Engineering, PETRONAS Group teams, vendors, and service providers, applying technical leadership and sound judgement during complex changes, troubleshooting, security activities, and incident response.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:
  • Manage, maintain, and continuously improve PECL corporate, field, and OT network architecture, including routing, switching, segmentation, resilience, performance, capacity, and lifecycle planning
  • Help define the future-state network architecture and roadmap, translating business, operational, security, and PETRONAS integration requirements into practical designs and priorities
  • Design, maintain, and improve OT/IT segmentation, secure remote access, and primary and backup connectivity for field and remote locations
  • Plan, implement, and troubleshoot network and firewall changes, including VLANs, routing, access controls, VPNs, site-to-site tunnels, and high-availability configurations
  • Manage hybrid connectivity and Azure networking components, including ExpressRoute, VNets, VNet peering, routing, network security groups, and private connectivity
  • Monitor network availability and performance, resolve complex incidents and recurring problems, and act as a senior escalation point for cross-domain connectivity issues
  • Prepare change records, technical risk assessments, implementation and rollback plans, testing evidence, CAB submissions, and operational handover documentation
  • Participate in after-hours support and perform work outside normal business hours for urgent break/fix incidents, service restoration, scheduled changes, and maintenance
  • Apply secure-by-design principles and maintain effective network-related security controls, standards, diagrams, operating procedures, and recovery information
  • Assist with security investigations, vulnerability remediation, audit requests, risk assessments, incident response, and improvement initiatives where network expertise is required
  • Support network-related integration with Zscaler, Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Entra ID, logging, monitoring, and other security services
  • Provide technical leadership through architecture decisions, mentoring, peer review, standards, and calm coordination during complex implementations and incidents
  • Coordinate internal teams, PETRONAS Group stakeholders, vendors, MSPs, consultants, and carriers, and contribute to roadmaps, business cases, budgets, and investment recommendations
WHAT YOU BRING:
  • 10+ years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience, with demonstrated depth in enterprise networking and strong working competence in information security
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent education, certification, and experience. CCNP or comparable networking certification is preferred; security or OT credentials and oil and gas, industrial, or OT/ICS experience are assets
  • Current hands-on capability with enterprise switching and firewalls, including routing, VLANs, VPNs, segmentation, high availability, monitoring, and advanced troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated experience managing and evolving network architecture across corporate, field, remote-site, cloud, or operational environments
  • Working knowledge of network security principles and recognized frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls, with the ability to apply them to network and infrastructure design
  • Experience leading complex technical changes through design, risk assessment, approval, implementation, testing, rollback readiness, and operational handover
  • Strong technical documentation skills, including architecture diagrams, standards, operating procedures, change records, and recovery information
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, including mentoring, influencing without formal authority, coordinating cross-functional teams and service providers, and explaining technical risks and options.
  • Availability and willingness to work outside normal business hours when required for break/fix support, incident response, scheduled changes, and maintenance
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent education, certification, and experience. CCNP or comparable networking certification is preferred; security or OT credentials and oil and gas, industrial, or OT/ICS experience are assets
