Job summary

Ribbit is seeking a Senior Navigation Engineer in Canada to lead the navigation stack development, including flight planning and trajectory generation. You will work with fellow engineers to ensure high-quality software, mentor new team members, and contribute to safety-critical flight trials.

The role combines hands-on C++ work on Linux with 3D path planning and geodesy expertise, in a hybrid on-site/remote setup based in the Greater Toronto Area.

Qualifications

• Experience developing navigation, flight management, or guidance software that has flown.
• Modern C++ (C++17/20) on Linux with Eigen/GeographicLib.
• Strong understanding of aviation navigation: en-route, VFR/IFR, holding patterns, approaches.
• Strong knowledge of geodesy: WGS84, geodesic, ECEF/local frames.
• Experience planning paths and trajectories in 3D, incl. wind effects.
• Experience testing in simulation and against recorded flight data.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of the navigation stack: mission and flight planning, trajectory generation, and guidance targets.
• Collaborate with other navigation engineers to deliver high-quality software and maintain standards.
• Write production C++ and prototype new capabilities.
• Represent navigation in design reviews with related teams and mentor new engineers.
• Support flight trials, analyse flight data, and turn feedback into improvements.
