Job summary

SLR Consulting (Canada) is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to lead backfill engineering services and oversee underground mine design, planning, and backfill solutions. You will apply industry standards, perform economic valuations, and collaborate with clients, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams in a safety-first environment.

With 10+ years in mining and strong communication skills, you will mentor engineers, support business development, and travel domestically and internationally as

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the mining industry.
• Minimum of five years of operational experience at operating underground mines.
• Experience with mine planning at an operational mine.
• Expert user of Deswik, Datamine, Vulcan, Surpac.
• Registered Professional Engineer or eligible for registration.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for mining studies in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Develop backfill concepts and support planners up to executive level.
• Mentor project engineers and junior staff.
• Conduct economic valuation of mine design and cash flows.
• Manage projects from conceptual to detailed engineering.
• Contribute to project design criteria, cost estimates, risk assessments.
• Prepare proposals and project reports; communicate with clients.
