This includes preparing technical reports and work plans, performing engineering evaluations of tailings facilities, waste rock storage areas, and water‑management structures (e.g., dams, dykes, diversion systems), and coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies. The candidate will act as or grow toward serving as an Engineer of Record (EoR) or Deputy EoR, providing technical oversight and ensuring engineering integrity across projects. They will lead and contribute to geotechnical engineering reviews, oversee laboratory testing programs, and support the planning and execution of annual dam and site inspections in accordance with the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management and Canadian Dam Association guidelines. Additionally, they will play a key role in client engagement and business development, supporting existing relationships and identifying opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities
  • Support Project Managers on tailings engineering, environmental investigations, remediation, and permitting projects.
  • Lead technical delivery and oversee junior staff.
  • Coordinate resources and work closely with senior technical leaders.
  • Act as or develop toward serving as an Engineer of Record or Deputy EoR.
  • Provide technical leadership to project teams, define project goals and constraints, and guide junior staff.
  • Support permitting efforts and ensure compliance with regulatory and engineering standards across all project phases.
Qualifications & Experience
  • MSc degree in civil or geotechnical engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 15–20 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably within the mining industry.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in a Canadian province or territory.
  • Demonstrated experience with tailings facilities, dam engineering, and waste rock management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage clients and represent Arcadis externally.
