Job summary

BDO Digital is seeking an experienced Senior Microsoft OneDrive Migration Architect for a 20-week contract to support a large-scale Microsoft 365 rollout. The role offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement and can be located anywhere in Canada.

The individual will provide hands-on technical leadership for the rollout of OneDrive for Business, including migration scripting, user onboarding, and validation. The ideal candidate has 7+ years in migrations, hands-on OneDrive/SharePoint experience,

Qualifications

• 7+ years delivering Microsoft 365, OneDrive or enterprise file migration projects.
• Hands-on experience with OneDrive for Business, OneDrive Known Folder Move and SharePoint Online.
• Experience configuring OneDrive Group Policy Objects on Windows 10/11.
• Experience migrating legacy mapped network drives and file shares to OneDrive or SharePoint Online using ShareGate and PowerShell.
• Experience developing migration scripts (ShareGate), assessment reports, and batch-level migration plans.
• Strong understanding of migration risks and post-migration support.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical planning and delivery of the OneDrive rollout and legacy mapped network drive migration.
• Assess legacy mapped network drive usage, folders, permissions, and migration readiness; design batches for 200–300 users (total up to 2500).
• Develop and maintain PowerShell and ShareGate scripts for migration activities.

• Be available after hours and weekends to support migration activities.
• Maintain migration runbooks, technical documentation, and end-user training materials.

Your Opportunity

BDO Digital is currently seeking an experienced Senior Microsoft OneDrive Migration Architect for a minimum 20-week contract to support a large-scale Microsoft 365 rollout and migration engagement. The role offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement and can be located anywhere in Canada.

The individual will provide hands-on technical leadership for the rollout of OneDrive for Business, including OneDrive Known Folder Move, Group Policy Object configuration, user onboarding, legacy mapped network drive migration, migration scripting, batch execution, validation and post-migration support. The individual will be responsible for the following:

• Lead the technical planning and delivery of the OneDrive rollout and legacy mapped network drive migration.
• Assess legacy mapped network drive usage, folder structures, permissions and migration readiness, and design migration batches of approximately 200 to 300 users for a total of 2500 users.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell and ShareGate scripts for pre-migration assessment, folder creation, migration execution and incremental migrations when required.
• Coordinate migration readiness, execution, validation, reruns, troubleshooting and issue resolution with client IT teams.
• Be available after hours and during weekends to support and execute the migration activities.
• Identify and address migration issues, including long paths, invalid characters, unsupported files, shortcuts, junction folders, permissions and sync limitations.
• Guide client team to execute the premigration/migration activities/PowerShell script execution over shadowing calls (no direct access to client tenant will be given).
• Maintain migration runbooks, technical documentation, issue trackers and as-built materials, and support administrator knowledge transfer, end-user training and hypercare.
• Assist project leaders with project planning and ensure team members understand their assigned responsibilities.
• Gather and document client requirements and support stakeholder reviews and approvals.
• Maintain alignment between client requirements, project deliverables, scope and timeline.
• Set up, facilitate and document technical, project and client meetings.

Due to the nature of the project, some flexibility will be required to be available after hours and during weekends at key stages of the project, in order to perform migration and validation activities.

Your experience and education

• 7+ years of experience delivering Microsoft 365, OneDrive or enterprise file migration projects.
• Deep hands‑on experience with OneDrive for Business, OneDrive Known Folder Move and SharePoint Online.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting OneDrive Group Policy Objects on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
• Experience migrating legacy mapped network drives and file shares to OneDrive or SharePoint Online using ShareGate and PowerShell.
• Experience developing migration scripts (specifically for ShareGate), assessment reports, folder mappings and batch-level migration plans.
• Strong understanding of migration risks, including long paths, invalid characters, unsupported file types, shortcuts, junction folders, permissions and sync limitations.
• Experience with migration validation, issue tracking, reruns, troubleshooting, documentation and post-migration support.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills for internal and external purposes.
• Proven ability to meet commitments, manage timelines and deliver high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently, manage change, take initiative and work well under pressure.
• Able to adapt quickly to changing client requirements and build strong relationships with clients, partners and team members.
• Microsoft 365, OneDrive, SharePoint or related certifications are considered an asset.
