Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology seeks a Senior MEMS Development Engineer to create novel microfabricated devices and sensor interfaces for next-gen nanopore sequencing technologies.

You will design, prototype, and characterize MEMS devices, taking concepts from proof-of-concept to integrated multi-channel sensing systems. Collaborate with a Senior Electronics R&D Engineer to drive iterative improvements and reliable prototypes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or related field.
• Experience in MEMS engineering, semiconductor microfabrication or microdevice development.
• Strong MEMS design principles and materials selection knowledge.
• Experience designing microfabricated devices using CAD tools and photolithography masks.
• Hands-on prototype development with dimensional, mechanical and electrical evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Own MEMS engineering development from concept to prototypes and integrated systems.
• Design and develop microfabricated devices and test structures with material selection and geometries.
• Evaluate fabrication approaches using standard MEMS processes and adapt for novel sensors.
• Collaborate with electronics and mechanical engineers on prototype devices and integration.
• Characterise interfaces, device performance, reliability and repeatability.
• Plan structured experiments to assess fabrication quality and performance.
• Engage external fabrication facilities and suppliers for prototype components.
• Draft technical specifications and coordinate with external partners.
