Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead Mining

Type of position: Regular

BBA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead for mine process plants to support our continued growth in Western Canada. The selected candidate will play a key role in all phases of engineering projects from front‑end studies through to field implementation with a focus on detailed engineering. As a senior member of the mechanical engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring technical quality, developing new business opportunities, and fostering team development.

  • Develop mechanical scopes of work, budgets, and proposals
  • Perform high‑level engineering on major mechanical packages such as crushing and grinding circuits, flotation circuits, leaching circuits, dewatering
  • Lead mechanical scope on conceptual design studies, pre‑feasibility studies, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering
  • Be a key team member for small to major brownfield/greenfield mining projects
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, condition assessments, commissioning, and testing (typical site visits 3‑10 days at a time, up to twenty‑five days a year, negotiable during the interview process)
  • Provide mentorship and coaching of junior/intermediate engineers, actively sharing knowledge and supporting skill enhancement within the team
  • Foster a culture of having fun at work while producing high‑quality professional deliverables

Overview of certifications and job requirements
  • Proven track record with strong technical skills as a Mechanical Engineer on mineral process plant projects
  • Ability to interpret PFD’s and process design criteria from process engineering, oversee plant layouts, mechanical equipment selection, technical bid evaluation and validation, and pump sizing
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 12+ years of relevant engineering experience in the mining sector with a preference for 5+ years in consulting
  • Must be a registered P.Eng. in Canada
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Available for site work and short‑term assignments (3‑10 days at a time up to twenty‑five days a year)
  • Asset: Site experience
  • Asset: Experience in base and precious metals
