Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our mining-focused team in Canada. The role covers capital and sustaining capital projects for surface and underground operations, emphasizing bulk materials handling, conveyors, and equipment optimization. Flexible location with occasional client-site travel.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, lead design and delivery, and ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in mining operations and sustaining capital projects.
• Experience with bulk materials handling, conveyors, crushers, chutes, pumps and piping.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in one or more Canadian provinces.
• Familiarity with CEMA, ISO, and DIN standards; Sidewinder and Belt Analyst.
• Experience in both surface and underground mining projects; equipment design and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize mechanical systems for capital projects in mining.
• Lead mechanical tasks from scoping to commissioning.
• Coordinate with process, structural and electrical teams for project integration.
• Perform site visits and provide hands-on support.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and project budgets.
