About the role:

About the role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will perform both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) using ANSYS to qualify systems and components against applicable codes and standards.

You will report to the Manager, Mechatronic Systems and Analysis and be located at our Peterborough location. You will have a hybrid work arrangement of 2 to 3 days per week on site.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide input and help develop conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process

  • Perform both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems or components against applicable codes and standards

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports

  • Prepare concise design reports and technical specifications

  • Perform Engineering Quality evaluation of materials and components following the CSA N299 programme

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Hold a Professional Engineering licence through the Professional Engineers Ontario

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience from nuclear or aerospace industry or design engineering working within software such as Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor and ANSYS(FEA) plus:

    • Apply the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems, specialised tooling and remote handling equipment

    • Pressure retaining systems to CSA and ASME design codes

    • Work with customer representatives and also providing oversight of vendors

    • Radiological shielding design and equipment
