Job description

Ready to build a rewarding career in an industry that is growing?

Who We Are

We are a global mining company dedicated to safely delivering nickel, copper, cobalt, and platinum group metals essential for the world’s energy transition.

Our mission is to improve lives and shape a better future together.

From utensils to cellphones to satellites, our operations simplify daily life and enhance connectivity. Our metals are integral to life‑saving medical equipment and the electric vehicles driving the fight against climate change – our work truly matters.

Join our diverse team of 15,000 talented individuals committed to transforming critical minerals into prosperity and sustainable development in countries like Canada, Brazil, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and Japan. We invite you to use your skills with us and contribute to something meaningful and enduring.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Architecture, to join our Information Technology organization, supporting enterprise and industrial operations from Toronto/Sudbury, ON.

This is a permanent, hybrid role, operating in a complex, global IT and OT environment, where uptime, safety, and resilience are non‑negotiable.

This role is practitioner‑led and execution‑oriented. It is designed for a senior technical expert who can act as a hands‑on authority across infrastructure, networks, hosting, cloud, integration platforms, cybersecurity, identity, and end‑user computing.

You will work closely with engineering teams, vendors, cybersecurity, architecture peers, and delivery teams to turn architectural intent into operable, real‑world solutions across corporate and site‑based environments.

About You

You are a deeply technical architecture leader who thrives in large‑scale, industrial or asset‑intensive environments. You are comfortable going deep into technical detail when required and are respected as a trusted authority during complex design decisions, major incidents, and critical initiatives.

You balance strong architectural thinking with pragmatic execution. You understand the realities of legacy systems, OT constraints, and operational risk—and you design solutions that work in practice, not just on paper.

Key Responsibilities:
In This Role, You Will
Backend IT & OT Technical Architecture
  • Own and evolve the technical architecture for backend IT and OT platforms, including data centres, networks, cloud environments, hosting platforms, middleware, identity, cybersecurity tooling, and end‑user computing
  • Ensure architectures support both enterprise IT workloads and industrial OT environments
  • Design for availability, performance, safety, security, and operational resilience
Infrastructure, Network & Hosting Architecture
  • Define and oversee enterprise‑wide network architectures spanning corporate, site, and OT networks
  • Own hosting and compute architectures across on‑prem, private cloud, public cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Ensure appropriate segmentation, redundancy, and failover across IT/OT landscapes
Cloud, Middleware & Platform Integration
  • Define cloud architecture patterns and technical guardrails
  • Own middleware and integration platform architectures supporting enterprise, data, and industrial systems
  • Ensure platforms enable reliable, scalable integration across complex environments
Cybersecurity & Technical Risk Management
  • Embed cybersecurity‑by‑design across technical architectures
  • Partner closely with cybersecurity teams to align with standards, threat models, and regulatory requirements
  • Assess and mitigate technical risks related to legacy platforms, OT environments, and site constraints
Technical Leadership & Delivery Support
  • Act as a senior technical authority for solution design, major incidents, and complex challenges
  • Provide hands‑on guidance to engineers, integrators, and vendors through design, build, testing, and deployment
  • Review and challenge technical designs to ensure architectural integrity and operational viability
Standardization & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to reduce complexity through standardization and modernization
  • Define repeatable technical patterns and reference architectures
  • Capture lessons learned from outages and implementations to improve resilience and reliability
Experience & Education
  • 11–15 years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or technical architecture roles
  • Strong background in enterprise infrastructure, networking, cloud, middleware, and cybersecurity
  • Practical experience supporting or operating in industrial or OT‑adjacent environments strongly preferred
  • Proven experience working with vendors, system integrators, and managed service providers
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • College Diploma considered with equivalent experience
Skills
  • Deep technical expertise across infrastructure, networking, hosting, cloud, identity, and end‑user platforms
  • Strong understanding of hybrid IT/OT architectures
  • Ability to design large‑scale systems with high availability, resilience, and recoverability
  • Hands‑on technical leadership and incident support experience
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Calm, methodical, and disciplined approach in high‑pressure environments
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and safety awareness
What We Offer You
  • Competitive compensation including a variable annual incentive plan
  • Participation in a competitive Defined Contribution Pension package
  • Comprehensive benefits package (company paid core coverage, health and dental coverage, flex accounts, disability plans, and optional insurances)
  • Leave for all of life’s reasons (vacation, personal, sick, parental)
  • Work culture dedicated to safety, diversity & inclusion, and career growth
  • Employee Family Assistance Program
  • Virtual Healthcare online
  • Online training and career development opportunities
