We are transforming the way North American Retail Risk approaches loss forecasting and provisioning. AsSr. Manager, Provisioning Methodology & Insights, you will leverage5–7 years of experiencein credit risk modeling and analytics to lead the development and implementation of advanced models focused onaged defaultsandinsolvency, directly supportingPCL (Provision for Credit Losses) calculationsand enablingearly signing insights for the Credit Strategy Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model Development & Forecasting
    • Design and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models to forecastaged defaultsandinsolvency lossesacross retail portfolios (e.g., cards, mortgages, small business banking).
    • Refine and operationalize provisioning methodologies to align with evolving regulatory and strategic requirements.
    • Develop scenario-based insolvency /aged models to support readiness for financial disaster recovery planning.
  • Performance Metrics & Feature Analysis
    • Create and maintain performance metrics to monitor model accuracy, stability, and business impact.
    • Conduct feature importance analysis to identify early indicators of default and insolvency, enabling proactive risk mitigation to minimize future loss.
    • Collaborate with the Credit strategy team to translate analytical insights into actionable strategies.
  • Risk Insights & Portfolio Monitoring
    • Monitor risk transformation across segments to detect early warning signals for aged defaults and insolvency.
    • Develop tools and dashboards to visualize risk trends and support decision-making.
    • Apply deep knowledge of risk assessment and controls to design metrics that minimize PCL exposure.
  • Documentation & Governance
    • Document model development processes, assumptions, and validation results to ensure transparency and audit readiness.
    • Partner with modeling and finance teams to ensure alignment with enterprise-wide risk and finance strategies.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Champion a collaborative, agile working culture across cross-functional teams.
    • Mentor junior analysts and contribute to a high-performance modeling environment.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency inSAS,Python,MAP, andSparkfor big data processing.
    • Strong foundation intraditional statisticsandadvanced machine learningtechniques.
    • Experience building and validating credit risk models (PD, LGD, EAD) and loss forecasting tools.
  • Analytical & Communication Skills
    • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on cross-group collaboration.
  • Strategic Mindset
    • Proven ability to drive innovation in risk modeling and provisioning methodologies.

  • Domain Knowledge
    • Familiarity with Retail Banking Products and the customer behaviours that surround them

Salary :

$103,200.00 - $192,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
