Overview

Thank you for your interest in joining our team! Venture for Canada is a national charity that fosters entrepreneurial skills and mindset in young Canadians. To be entrepreneurial is to act upon opportunities to create value for others. We recruit, train, and support young people to work for innovative Canadian small businesses and startups. Through our programs, participants develop the network, knowledge, and entrepreneurial skills to have more impactful careers. The resourcefulness of Canadians is essential to overcoming our country's greatest challenges. Venture for Canada is a catalyst of systemic social change by equipping young Canadians to build a more prosperous and inclusive society.

Hi, I’m Kathleen, the Senior Manager, People Operations here at Venture for Canada (VFC). I’ll be leading the recruitment for this new opening. We’re excited to see the team expand and invite you to learn about our recruitment process and workplace philosophy on our Careers page.

Over the past few years, VFC has experienced incredible growth, with the work we do being both important and timely. We’re hiring a marketing leader to help shape our strategy and build the next phase of VFC’s journey. The Senior Manager, Marketing will report to the CEO; this is a senior role on a small team, so it is one that is expected to manage both people and projects while also rolling up sleeves to do daily, hands-on tasks. We see marketing at VFC as both selling our products (i.e., our entrepreneurial programs and courses), raising awareness, promoting our work, and generating support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that align with VFC’s mission and growth goals;
  • Lead, support, and coach a high-performing internal marketing team;
  • Oversee and optimize the output of an external marketing firm to complement internal capacity;
  • Contribute to broader organizational planning and decision-making from a marketing and brand perspective;
  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive brand marketing initiatives that drive awareness and participation in VFC’s programs;
  • Lead the production and execution of high-quality content across channels and formats;
  • Collaborate with the Development team to align marketing and communications efforts with fundraising priorities;
  • Work alongside the People Operations team to elevate employer branding, highlighting VFC’s culture and values in recruitment marketing and staff engagement;
  • Champion the organization’s national brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging and visual representation;
  • Oversee digital presence, including social media, website, and digital PR;
  • Lead or contribute to high-visibility materials like the annual report, impact updates, and campaign assets;
  • Work with the CEO and the Finance Team to ensure marketing funds are allocated effectively and spent according to plan;
  • Support internal communications efforts to align the growing team around brand and messaging;
  • Lead a shared services marketing and sales function, working with teams across the organization to shape messaging and campaigns while staying responsive to their goals, feedback, and strategic priorities;
  • Use project management tools and processes to co-lead cross-functional initiatives;
  • Support the evolution of marketing systems, tools, and team structure as VFC grows.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or related roles;
  • Minimum of 2 years managing and mentoring staff, with a track record of developing high-performing teams;
  • Proven expertise in developing and executing marketing strategies that drive measurable business results;
  • Excellent project management skills and comfort working cross-functionally across departments;
  • Demonstrated experience in brand development and management;
  • Strong content creation skills across media, with a compelling storytelling style;
  • Experience with marketing platforms and analytics tools such as HubSpot, Google Analytics, Canva, social platforms, and Adobe;
  • Understanding of audience segmentation and stakeholder persona development;
  • Experience successfully leading national campaigns to recruit clients or participants is an asset;
  • Commitment to inclusive, accessible, and equity-informed communications;
  • Ability to travel to in-person events across Canada;
  • Passionate about entrepreneurship, education, and social impact; experience in nonprofits or small, scaling organizations is an asset;
  • Education in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field is an asset;
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset.

Interested in this role but don’t think you have the right experience? We look for transferable skills too. We also heard only 1% of candidates will ever meet every requirement on most job postings, so really it’s not a big deal if you don’t meet all our requirements.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary range: $83,000-93,000
  • Stipend for phone usage
  • Comprehensive health benefits plan and RRSP matching
  • Three weeks of paid vacation
  • Summer hours from May to Labour Day
  • Additional summer office closures, holiday closures (Dec 25–Jan 1), and bonus long weekends (14+ office closures annually)
  • Potential to work out of the country / province for up to 1 month annually
  • Flexible work hours and a remote work environment
  • Professional development funding
  • Funding to support the setup of your home office

Location: Virtual, home office must be within Canada.

Start Date: November 2025

Deadline to Apply: October 7, 2025
