We are currently hiring for the position of:

SENIOR MANAGER, MARKET OPERATIONS, LOGISTICS AND PRODUCTION - MARKET

The Senior Manager, Operations, Logistics & Production, Market is responsible for the operational planning, production, and delivery of the TIFF Market, ensuring all event logistics are executed at the highest standard. This role focuses on the production and day-to-day execution of all Market events/ activities, working closely with third‑party production teams, internal departments, and external vendors to deliver on time, on budget, and to a professional standard consistent with TIFF’s and international standards.

It requires strong expertise in conference operations, large‑scale event production, and vendor oversight, with a focus on efficiency, precision, and seamless coordination. The Senior Manager ensures that budgets, timelines, and operational workflows are tightly managed while anticipating challenges and maintaining high service standards for all stakeholders. It also requires exceptional project management and problem‑solving, with a strong ability to navigate the fast‑paced environment of a global cultural event.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations & Production
  • Oversee and manage planning, scheduling and execution of all non‑technical production of Market venues, exhibition space & conference, including site builds, installations, load‑ins/load‑outs, and day‑to‑day operations.
  • Develop and manage detailed operational plans for large‑scale conference programming, including sessions, panels, workshops, networking lounges, and exhibitor activations.
  • Manage third‑party vendors responsible for event production, ensuring alignment with agreed standards and contracts.
  • Lead production schedules, workbacks, and onsite management for Market operations.
  • Supervise seasonal staff and oversee day‑to‑day vendor execution during build and implementation of Market operations.
  • Implement operational workflows and ensure alignment with TIFF Festival Operations and Shared Service teams.
  • Identify and troubleshoot operational risks, proposing practical solutions to maintain delivery standards.
  • Develop and implement operational plans, safety and security procedures, and emergency response protocols for Market venues.
  • Work closely with TIFF Visitor Experience and Production, Market and programming teams to translate needs into operational and production requirements.
  • Oversee speaker and talent logistics in coordination with other TIFF departments (green rooms, transport, technical rehearsals, and on‑site support).
  • Hire, train, and manage seasonal event staff and contractors, ensuring proper coverage and effective performance on‑site.
  • Chair production and operations meetings, keeping internal and external stakeholders accountable to timelines and deliverables.
  • Monitor and report on progress, challenges, and solutions to senior leadership before, during, and after the Market.
  • Provide post‑event reporting and recommendations for process improvements in future editions of the Market.
Logistics & Infrastructure
  • Develop, implement and manage operational plans, site layouts, builds, and production schedules with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with TIFF Logistics and Market venue managers, city departments, and community partners on permits, closures, and operational approvals.
  • Track and report on event production and logistics budgets, ensuring cost‑effective solutions without compromising delivery.
  • Execute health, safety, and security planning across Market venues, taking guidance from and ensuring compliance with TIFF policies and City requirements.
  • Prepare pre‑Market and daily reports during Market to keep management informed of activities.
Events
  • Map out Market events plan, inclusive of networking, Market party, happy hours, and Market related dinners.
  • Work with Events Coordinators to deliver Market related events, inclusive of both sold Market events and events hosted by the Market with partners.
  • Work closely with internal Events Lead under VP, Visitor Experience, to secure proper venues for all market related events sold and produced.
JOB GRADE & SALARY:
  • Job Grade Salary Range/Annually : $65,000 - $99,000
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
  • Immediate or upon availability
WORK LOCATION:
  • Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
  • Weekly in‑office requirements:
    • Minimum 2 days (1st November – 30th April)
    • Minimum 3 days (1st May – 31st October)
  • Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, Arts Management, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in large‑scale event operations, conference management, or live event production, ideally within the screen, cultural, or creative industries.
  • Demonstrated success in leading operational delivery for conferences, festivals, or multi‑day events with complex programming and multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven experience managing event logistics across venues, including site builds, vendor management, AV/technical requirements, and attendee flow.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage seasonal and contract staff, including onboarding, scheduling, and on‑site leadership.
  • Familiarity with health and safety, emergency planning, and risk management in a large public event environment.
  • Understanding and managing intricate workflows and overlaps in production and event planning, ensuring operational alignment across various teams.
