The successful candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with government stakeholders, as well as industry partners and communities. They will monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy developments across Canada and, to a lesser extent, the United States, assessing potential impacts on the business and helping shape the company's response.

Internally, the role will provide critical support through policy analysis, reporting, position paper development, government submissions, lobbying compliance activities, and maintenance of government relations records and registries. This position works closely with Business Development, Legal, and operating company leadership to support business objectives and advance corporate priorities.

More specifically in this role you will:
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with government officials, regulators, industry associations, and community groups.
  • Represent the company in meetings with government stakeholders, industry groups, community organizations, and external partners.
  • Support strategic engagement initiatives that strengthen the company’s reputation and stakeholder relationships.
  • Monitor emerging issues and concerns and develop strategies to address opportunities and risks.
  • Track and analyze government policy, legislative, and regulatory developments across the company's jurisdictions, primarily in Canada and, where relevant, other parts of the world.
  • Assess the potential business impact of proposed policy and regulatory changes and communicate implications to internal stakeholders.
  • Research, draft, and coordinate position papers, submissions, consultation responses, briefing notes, and stakeholder communications.
  • Assist in the development of communication strategies related to emerging issues and crises.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and updates for senior leadership on government relations activities and emerging issues.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 7 years or more experience.
  • Experience with government decision-making processes, public policy development, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to develop high-quality briefing notes, positions papers, consultation responses, and executive-level materials.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and interact effectively with senior leadership, government officials and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong ability to Influence decision-makers and build consensus across diverse groups.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Willing and able to travel across Canada and in the USA, and in possession of a driver’s license with clean driving abstract.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in shaping the company's relationships with government, industry, and external stakeholders while helping influence policy and outcomes that support the long‑term success of the business. You will work closely with senior leaders across the organization and contribute to strategic initiatives that have a meaningful impact on our communities, operations, and future growth.
