We advise our clients on complex US and Canadian cross border tax matters and help families implement generational wealth transfer and estate planning strategies.

What you will do

As a lead member of the team you will work closely with partners and senior leadership on Canadian and US tax planning projects and compliance. The ideal candidate can demonstrate strong coaching skills by providing ongoing support and opportunities for professional development. Specifically, your role will require you to

  • Plan and lead engagements including Canadian and US income tax planning, estate planning and tax compliance.
  • Plan workflow and organize teams for the preparation of personal tax returns and review the work of staff for accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop relationships, understand the needs of the client and work with them to provide tax solutions and planning strategies.
  • Prepare memos and other deliverables by conducting tax research and analyzing complex issues.
  • Work with other practices and member firms in attracting new work to the firm.
What you bring to the role
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in dealing with cross border Canada and US personal tax advisory and compliance including gift and estate planning for HNW individuals and shareholders and providing solutions to HNW families as a trusted advisor.
  • Ability to lead private client engagements and interact effectively with clients.
  • Canadian CPA or US Professional Accounting designation (EA or US CPA) would be an asset.
  • Completion of the In-depth Tax Course is an asset.
  • Having obtained a TEP through the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (or are currently enrolled in the program) is an asset.
  • Strong research and memo writing ability.
  • Experienced in all facets of project management including team leadership, workflow management, team and client communication, documentation and managing financial metrics and profitability.
  • Strong Microsoft Office software knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
