What is your opportunity?

The Enterprise Chief Controls Office (ECCO) is a centralized first line of defense group with the goal of embedding a culture of risk ownership and operational excellence by elevating the control environment and driving consistency and quality of risk practices to minimize loss and regulatory sanction, drive cost efficiencies, and accelerate execution to enable growth.

The Enterprise Control Testing (ECT) team serves as RBC’s central control testing function. As the Enterprise central control testing team, ECT acts on behalf of the 1LOD (first line of defense) Control Owner and is responsible for performing control assurance activities in accordance with RBC’s Internal Control Management Policy and Standard (ICMP and ICMS).

As the Senior Manager, ECT Planning, you will be a key member of the strategy team, responsible for advancing the strategic roadmap, and enablement of the Enterprise Control Testing team and strategy. You will be responsible for the execution of the strategic roadmap and will serve as a lead operational officer for the ECT organization, providing support to enable the testing teams to create/deliver on horizontal capabilities/services.

What will you do?
  • Lead/support in the delivery of key ECT strategic initiatives, including developing the approach, creating and executing the plan, developing and tracking the relevant metrics, coordinating with stakeholders
  • Provide any horizontal support that may be required across the workstreams, including budget reviews/financial approvals
  • Oversee the delivery of the annual plan, including review the progress and support in resolving any obstacles, reporting of the results
  • Manage ECT leadership meeting cadences and agendas, including regular updates with senior executives
  • Lead the monthly creation, population and distribution of the ECT performance dashboard, including storyboard the key narrative, partner with teams to collect data
  • Build and maintain the ECT team culture by delivering on various employee focused initiatives to create a sense of belonging and help promote ECT as a team of choice for employees
  • Lead ECT wide team enablement and communication, such as coordination of employee committees
  • Support the consolidation of control testing function, including change management and communication
What do you need to succeed?
  • 5 years financial services, strategy, risk, or related management consulting experience with a global and strategic perspective
  • Project/program management expertise, including leading large programs, managing multiple competing priorities, reporting against progress
  • Change management with diverse group of stakeholders and communications experience with an emphasis on negotiation and influencing skills while navigating across a matrixed environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Human Resources, Engineering or other related field
Nice-to-have
  • MBA, PMP, CPA, CIA, FRM, CFA, CHRP or other related designations
  • Experience in operational risk management (first and/or second line of defense capacities)
  • Experience in the design and evaluation of internal controls
  • Experience in HR/delivering people-oriented initiatives to build/maintain a strong team culture
  • Knowledge and/or experience working across different platforms and/or functional units of a diversified financial services firm, including exposure to multiple geographies
