Job summary

Anthem Properties Group Ltd. is seeking a senior leader in development accounting in Vancouver.

You will mentor the Development Accounting team, oversee project proformas and cash flows, and ensure compliance with internal controls while communicating financial impacts to senior leadership. The role requires a CPA designation, at least five years in a similar management position, and strong Excel skills with real estate development accounting experience.

You will
  • Support and manage a team of Development Accountants, providing leadership and mentorship to team members by regularly meeting with and providing defined growth plans to support their development
  • Ensure the financial close maintains compliance with internal controls and company policies
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of and status of all aspects of the projects in your portfolio by working closely with project teams to ensure project proformas are updated accurately and that financial impacts are clearly communicated to senior leadership and partners
  • Manage and maintain project proformas, including scenario modelling and cash flow projections with a strong understanding of capital structuring
  • Analyze project performance with an eye to identifying risks and opportunities early in the process, and proactively raise issues to the project teams and senior leadership
  • Prepare and/or review partner and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency with deal structures and timely delivery
  • Ensure compliance with partnership and management agreements
  • Review construction loan draws and liaise with cost consultants/lenders
  • Review of working paper files for project entities, ensuring the financial position of the projects is accurately reflected and is in accordance with the applicable accounting framework
  • Enhance internal processes, strengthen controls and contribute to broader initiatives for the accounting team
  • Assist in managing and coordinating multiple audits for the project portfolio and review audit support prepared by the team
  • Ad-hoc analysis and projects as required
You have
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a similar management role
  • Proven ability with leadership
  • A CPA Designation
  • Real Estate development accounting experience, including financial modelling, cash management and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with Yardi is preferred
  • Proven ability in handling high volume in a fast-paced work environment with multiple competing demands
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; must have the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
  • The ability to present project information to various levels of Anthem management and are comfortable taking an active role in meetings

Base salary: $135,000 – $155,000, per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications
