Capital One Canada seeks a Senior Data Science Manager to lead the next wave of data-driven disruption at scale. You will own end-to-end data pipelines, build ML models, and collaborate across teams to unlock opportunities that help Canadians save time and money.

You’ll manage and develop talent in a hybrid environment, prioritizing performance and mentorship while exploring open source tools and new data sources to drive impactful insights.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in open source languages for large scale data analysis (Python, Scala, or Java).
• 7+ years with Git and GitHub.
• 7+ years with relational databases and SQL.
• 4+ years in lead positions (managing people/owning products/architecting).
• 2+ years with machine learning workflows.
• AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) experience preferred.
• CI/CD tooling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing development of software to operationalize, clean, and investigate large datasets.
• Network with teams to explore data sources and APIs for trends and better analysis.

About the Role

As a Senior Data Science Manager at Capital One, you’ll be leading the next wave of disruption at a whole new scale, using the latest in distributed computing technologies and operating across billions and billions of customer transactions to unlock the big opportunities that help everyday people save money, time, and agony in their financial lives.

Your Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the development of software to operationalize, clean, and investigate large, messy data sets of structured and unstructured data
• Networking with various teams to explore internal and external data sources and APIs to help uncover new trends and improve analysis
• Designing and contributing to highly scalable data pipelines, machine learning models, tools, and products to enable the analyst community to fully leverage the power of AWS
• Managing and developing talent to drive a highly performant and engaged team
• Working with various teams to analyze large swaths of data in order to optimize various business programs
• Investigating the impact of new technologies on the future of digital banking and the financial world of tomorrow

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 7 years of experience in open source programming languages for large scale data analysis (Python, Scala, or Java)
• At least 7 years of experience with version control systems like Git and GitHub.
• At least 7 years of experience with relational databases and programming in SQL
• At least 4 years in lead positions (managing people/owning products/architecting and driving an agenda)
• At least 2 years of experience with machine learning workflows

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree or PhD in a quantitative field
• Experience working with AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, etc.)
• Experience working with advanced Git Workflows (Pull Requests, Code Reviews, Issues, and Branching)
• Experience with CICD tools
• 2+ years experience with machine learning workflows
• 7+ years experience in Python
• 7+ years’ experience with SQL
• 4+ years in lead positions (managing people/owning products/architecting and driving an agenda)

This posting is for an existing vacancy. The expected annual salary range for this position is $202,400 to $231,000. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
