GENERAL SUMMARY

The Corporate FP&A – Capital team at Loblaw is responsible for the consolidation, analysis and presentation of capital planning, forecasts, and multi-year strategic capital planning. This position focusses on building/maintaining macro planning models and incorporating strategic insights using post investment analysis. The position offers the right individual the opportunity to develop a solid understanding of the Company and translate that knowledge into a clear message for management reporting. The colleague will play a leading role in the end-to-end development of the Capital Plan and will partner with Corporate FP&A, Treasury, Real Estate and Divisional FP&A functions to support strategic projects and financial planning needs of the business.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Prepare and manage the Capital Plan for the upcoming planning cycle, including milestone deliverables to key stakeholders in the business
  • Work closely with colleagues producing the Capital Forecast and Capital Project Approvals with a view to synthesize risks and opportunities to current year and forward-looking Capital Plans
  • Maintain a rolling model of multi-year enterprise capital needs
  • Oversee and own (i) Board reporting on Capital spending in-year and Capital for Strategic plan reviews and (ii) quarterly reporting to the Investor Relations team
  • Understand and oversee the Capital Reporting function in the team; review the capital forecast for cash flow forecasting.
  • Lead special projects and ad-hoc reporting
  • Interact effectively with business partners across the enterprise, building strong relationships with peers
  • Maintain the enterprise Capital investment model
  • Exhibit a continuous improvement mindset; provide recommendations on process enhancements and opportunities to leverage automation and workflow tools to drive better insights and analysis
SKILLS REQUIRED
  • A Post-Secondary education in Finance or related field is required
  • Professional finance designation, CPA-CA, CPA-CMA, CFA or MBA, required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years finance or accounting experience; related planning and forecasting work experience would be an asset
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required; ability to storyboard and effectively convey key analytical findings in presentations for senior leaders
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Results oriented and proven ability to multitask – consistently delivers on time and drives for results.
  • Enthusiastic team player with demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced changing work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically through unstructured problems
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other departments and build strong working relationships.
  • Strong leadership skills to foster a collaborative environment. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with SAP and MicroStrategy would be an asset
  • Experience with workflow automation tools would be an asset (e.g. Power Automate, Power Query, or other)
