Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5 years of communications experience in a fast-paced global internal communications team or similar corporate communications environment.
  • Experience developing, delivering and measuring internal communications to achieve tangible outcomes.
  • Experience managing different stakeholder relationships at a senior level.
  • Excellent English writing skills.
  • Experience with analytics systems and measurement reporting.
  • Strong digital communications experience, including CMS, email and internal social media.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development and delivery of BioPharma corporate communications activities in line with strategies and plans.
  • Develop and deliver accurate, clear and compelling communications materials and campaigns.
  • Advise and coach internal stakeholders, including senior leaders on events/issues to be communicated.
  • Manage channels like Workvivo, Zoom, MS Teams and digital displays; disseminate announcements as appropriate.
  • Oversee BioPharma editorial calendar across internal/external channels.
  • Lead delivery of global events like BioPharma Excellence Awards and senior leader meetings.
  • Measure effectiveness of communication approaches and provide analysis for improvements.
  • Support communications related to global crisis incidents when required.
  • Manage and optimize agency/contractor relationships and internal stakeholders.

Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, BioPharma, 12 Month Contract

As the Corporate Communications Senior Manager for BioPharma you operate within the Global Corporate Affairs BioPharma team with a specific focus on shaping and executing internal and external communications activities that engage employees and raise awareness and understanding of AstraZeneca’s BioPharmaceuticals business with external stakeholders.

You will work with leaders and communicators from all business areas to deliver timely, relevant, and compelling communications activities that achieve tangible outcomes.

You'll be providing advice and guidance on communications matters to executives and senior leaders to deliver effective communications. The often sensitive, material content involved means that the you will be required to demonstrate exemplary personal judgment, initiative, and collaborative skills while working as part of a close-knit, high-performing, and flexible team.

What you'll do
  • Manage development and delivery of BioPharma corporate communications activities in line with corresponding strategies and plans
  • Proactively identify, develop and deliver accurate, clear and compelling communications materials, campaigns and activities spanning all corporate activities in a timely way
  • Advise, coach and counsel internal stakeholders, including senior leaders on events/issues that need to be communicated
  • Manage channels such as Workvivo (Internal Social Platform), Zoom (Broadcast tool), MS Teams (Collaboration platform), Digital Plasma Screens and share the responsibility for disseminating announcements when appropriate
  • Manage BioPharma editorial calendar to ensure alignment of BioPharma Corporate and Therapy Area communications activities across internal and external channels
  • Oversee the design, development and delivery of high impact global events like the BioPharma Business Unit Excellence Awards and take on a key role in the successful delivery of leadership events, such as the bi-annual senior leader meetings
  • Measurement of effectiveness of communication approaches, provision of analysis and recommendations to drive continuous improvements (including rationalization/ simplification where appropriate)
  • Support communications related to global crisis incidents when required
  • Responsible for management and productivity of agency/contractor relationships and associated management of internal stakeholders, overseeing quality and compliance of work
Essential for the role
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of communications experience in a fast-paced global internal communications team or similar corporate communications environment
  • Experience developing, delivering and measuring internal communications to achieve tangible outcomes
  • Experience of managing different stakeholder relationships, confident at forging trusted relationships at a senior level
  • Sound judgement combined with good interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to quickly capture requirements and design appropriate communications activities to achieve desired outcomes
  • Excellent English writing skills
  • Experience of analytics systems and measurement reporting
  • Strong digital communications experience, including content management systems, email and internal social media
  • Handle conflicting priorities, stakeholder and colleague expectations and deliver consistently high-quality outputs
  • Inquisitive approach with critical/analytical abilities
  • Strategic problem solver looking outside to bring new approaches to continually reinvigorate outputs and improve the effectiveness of approaches

Desirable for the role
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience working in a large and highly regulated corporate organization
  • Practical understanding of financial reporting and disclosure requirements at a UK publicly listed company

Annual base salary for this position ranges from 125,822.40 to 165,141.90.
