You will become a leader and mentor to a dynamic team, influence others to achieve professional goals, and contribute to a motivating team environment. You will work with a diverse group of privately held, dynamic and not-for-profit organizations, acting as a business advisor to clients. You will help clients solve business problems, participate in developing business strategies, and grow professionally with support from senior practitioners. This role fits someone who enjoys an entrepreneurial culture and input on key strategic decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and executing a wide range of large to mid-sized audits
  • Research and advisory work on complex accounting and auditing matters
  • Providing solutions to clients for accounting matters and supporting growth in current business and financial conditions
  • Leading and executing client engagements under varying reporting frameworks across different industries and sectors
  • Contributing to new business development by understanding all Doane Grant Thornton services and using credibility in the field
  • Acting as a leader in the business unit, service line, and firm by contributing to the development and execution of the office business plan
  • Maximizing engagement profitability by effectively utilizing engagement resources
  • Analyzing and reviewing corporate and personal income tax returns, NTRs and Reviews
  • Planning and leading teams to ensure client expectations are exceeded
  • Supervising and mentoring an accounting team, including file reviews
  • Leading through the coaching and performance management process of the practice by providing ongoing feedback, conducting timely performance reviews, and delivering training to develop team members
Qualifications
  • Completed a CPA designation, with a minimum of four years post-designation experience in public practice
  • Strong background with reviewing audit engagements and working with owner-managed clients and non-profits within a public practice scope
  • Desire to manage teams within audit and the small business group
  • Articulate, inspiring, and versatile communicator
  • Ability to build and deepen meaningful business relationships with colleagues, clients and in the marketplace, based on strong rapport, trust and respect
  • Proactively growing the firm through differentiating the Doane Grant Thornton brand in the marketplace, supporting and driving business development and client service initiatives
  • Strong people management focus and coaching orientation
