Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Dishwasher to support dining services across our retirement residences. The role involves loading, operating and emptying dishwashers and ensuring kitchen spaces remain clean and safe for residents and staff.

Reporting to the Culinary Manager, you will follow portion control, keep surfaces sanitized, and participate in training and quality improvement initiatives, while upholding our commitment to dignity and high standards of care.

Qualifications

Must have empathy for the elderly and ability to get along with the handicapped.
Ability to understand and follow proper food handling and storage procedures.
Ability to understand and follow directions to serve food correctly according to portion control.
Ability to work accurately and quickly.
Able to read and write English.
A current Food Handler’s Certificate is considered an asset.
Must provide a complete Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

To load, operate and empty dishwashers, putting the dishes away.
To maintain a clean cooking area, including surfaces, stoves, ovens, grills, storage and exhaust hood.
To damp mop floors.
To clean other kitchen equipment such as blenders and refrigerators.
To perform all duties with cleanliness in mind.
To attend in-service training to better serve residents’ dietary needs.
To participate in staff meetings and quality improvement programs.
To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
To uphold the organization’s values relating to ethics, morality, and integrity.
