A leading visual effects company is seeking a Senior Lighting Artist to lead complex shots, mentor junior artists, and collaborate with various teams. The ideal candidate will possess advanced lighting software skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a keen visual sense. This role includes working closely with a bilingual team and various international partners, ensuring a unique opportunity for creative expression in a global setting.
The Senior Lighting Artist is a technically proficient and artistically skilled contributor responsible for delivering complex, high-impact shots. They bring creative insight, help define the tone and quality of sequences, and support the broader team.
Lead the lighting on complex shots or entire sequences.
Maintain a consistent visual style while solving creative and technical challenges.
Optimize lighting setups for efficiency and reusability.
Suggets improvements to tools, templates, documentation, and workflows.
Show motivation to learn and grow in a production environment.
Implement feedback and corrections quickly and accurately.
Follow lighting directions provided by Leads and Supervisors.
Mentor junior and mid-level artists.
Collaborate with lookdev, shading, and compositing to ensure visual continuity.
Seek support when facing technical or creative challenges.
Share feedback and actively participate in reviews.
Advanced expertise in lighting software and rendering engines (e.g., Katana, Maya, Arnold, etc.).
Strong understanding of lookdev, shading, and compositing integration.
Excellent problem-solving ability and artistic judgment.
Experience working with layered AOV workflows and lighting templates.
Strong visual sense of color, composition, and light.
Team player with great attention to detail.
Good knowledge of Nuke (or other node-based compositing software).
Basic English skills (spoken and written).
Understanding of rendering engines (Arnold, Renderman, Redshift, etc.).
Experience with ShotGrid or equivalent.
Good grasp of color, lighting, and photography principles.
Scripting skills (Python) to automate tasks or create lighting tools.
The person in this role will work closely with our Paris studio in a bilingual environment, as well as with international partners, talent, and clients. They will regularly interact with non-French-speaking stakeholders across various productions and strategic communications, in order to present and promote the creative and technical strengths of Mikros Animation on a global scale.
