We're currently looking for a Senior Claims Leader to lead a team of examiners and large loss file handlers.

What you'll do:

  1. Accountable for leading a team of property file handlers, including managing large loss claims and delivering business outcomes related to customer satisfaction, team performance, and financial results.
  2. Create an environment that enables team members to excel and build their capabilities for career progression and meeting business needs.
  3. Identify and improve system conditions, eliminate waste, and enhance service quality for customers, environment, and financial performance.
  4. Develop, implement, and monitor claims standards, risk and compliance standards, training curriculum, and project management practices.
  5. Manage operational risks associated with the team’s output.
  6. Model Aviva Values and lead with a culture of People, Business, and Innovation.
  7. Communicate clearly and confidently, fostering collaboration and a shared vision for team success.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Oversee accurate indemnity spend on complex, high-value property claims, focusing on commercial claims.
  2. Manage customer outcomes, financial performance, and risk on large loss files.
  3. Identify and mitigate emerging risks, ensure compliance, and monitor for fraud or irregularities.
  4. Conduct performance management and support team members’ career development.
  5. Coordinate with other units such as recovery, underwriting, and complaints.
  6. Utilize data insights to improve performance, customer experience, and financial results.
  7. Lead and motivate the team, fostering ownership, agility, transparency, inclusion, curiosity, and respect.
  8. Drive change initiatives within the team.

What you'll bring:

  • Post-secondary education with CIP/FCIP designation.
  • Deep understanding of large loss property claims, with ability to troubleshoot and develop team capabilities.
  • Leadership experience in insurance is an asset.
  • Strong performance management and capability development skills.
  • Experience or knowledge in continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Technical proficiency as a large loss adjuster or examiner.
  • Analytical skills to interpret data and improve team performance.
  • Curiosity and creativity.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
