Job description

Job Description

What if you could redefine what’s possible? With us, you want Purpose. Growth. Opportunity. People who get it. We are the home of ambitious, passionate, and innovative world shapers. With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science‑based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions. We are pathfinders and impact makers. We are Visioneers. We are WSP.

As a Landfill Gas Engineer with WSP, you will play a key role in shaping how communities across Ontario — and Canada — manage waste sustainably for generations to come. This is your opportunity to influence projects that directly support environmental protection, climate resilience, energy recovery, and responsible land development. You will contribute your expertise to some of the most high‑profile, technically complex landfill gas projects in the province.

Your work will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, modernize waste infrastructure, and create healthier spaces for people and ecosystems. With access to one of the strongest Waste teams in Ontario, you’ll be surrounded by experts who challenge convention, embrace innovation, and champion new ideas. In this role, the impact you make will be seen in real outcomes: optimized landfill gas systems, safer communities, stronger environmental performance, and long‑term client partnerships built on trust and technical excellence. You’ll shape not only the future of waste engineering, but also the next generation of engineering talent through mentorship, collaboration, and thought leadership.

This is where technical mastery meets meaningful purpose — where your ideas can influence design standards, guide policy, and contribute to Canada’s transition to cleaner, more resilient infrastructure. With us, your work truly matters.

Your Impact
  • Lead strategic and technical oversight on landfill gas programs that support long‑term environmental performance.
  • Develop and advance landfill gas design standards, methodologies, and innovative engineering practices.
  • Serve as a trusted expert, providing guidance to clients, senior leaders, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Oversee project delivery to ensure quality, compliance, and financial performance across a portfolio of high‑impact projects.
  • Mentor engineers and technical staff to build future capability and support succession planning.
  • Represent WSP on industry committees, technical panels, and at major industry events.
  • Champion thought leadership through papers, presentations, and emerging technology initiatives.
  • Act as a seller‑doer—supporting pursuits, cultivating lasting client relationships, and helping grow the Waste business.
  • Lead pursuit strategy development, including go/no‑go assessments, win strategies, and proposal leadership.
  • Drive collaboration across regions and practices to expand our project reach and technical excellence.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; Master’s or PhD an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario; additional Canadian registrations are a plus.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience specializing in landfill gas engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in landfill gas system design, peer review, regulatory compliance, and complex project delivery.
  • Proven experience building client relationships and delivering business growth as a seller‑doer.
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial, and energized by cross‑disciplinary teamwork.
  • Experience leading project teams, managing portfolios, and influencing strategy.
  • Comfortable navigating RFPs, EOIs, SOQs, and major competitive pursuits.
  • Valid driver’s licence, access to a vehicle, and proficiency with MS Office.
Why Choose WSP?
  • Proudly Canadian – we are a Top 100 Employer in Canada for 2026.
  • A global community of brilliant minds – your next idea, mentor, or opportunity is always within reach.
  • Limitless opportunities start here. Whether it’s across the country or around the globe, we help you tailor your role to match your ambition — because your growth drives ours.
