Job summary

Citi in Mississauga is seeking an Apps Dev Sr. Program Analyst to deliver complex enterprise software solutions using Java, microservices, and cloud-native technologies.

You will work within a globally distributed team on risk systems, with a focus on scalable, low-latency applications and strong collaboration across technology groups. The role requires hands-on experience with Spring Boot, RESTful services, containers, and CI/CD tooling, while aligning with risk and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Java development.
• Experience with RESTful service implementations.
• Experience building Spring applications with Spring Boot.
• Experience in cloud-based architectures (AWS) and containerization (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes).
• Hands-on with CI tools (Jenkins, TeamCity) and code quality tools (SonarQube).
• Knowledge of multithreading, OOAD, and real-time low-latency apps.
• Familiar with service-oriented/microservice design and risk-domain systems.

The Senior Java Development- Risk is responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Job Purpose

The Global Spread Products Technology Team is looking for an Apps Dev Sr. Program Analyst with a proven track record of producing complex enterprise software solutions. This role will require extensive development using Java, Microservices, Cloud Computing (AWS), Containerization, OpenShift, and Kubernetes technology. Candidate will be heavily involved with implementation of strategic Risk Systems for Global Spread Products. The ideal candidate will be responsible and resourceful software professional who can comfortably work in a large development team in a globally distributed, dynamic work environment, teamwork and collaboration. The ability to work in high pressured environment is essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology, applications development, model development, and establish and implement new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas
• Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users
• Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business process, system process, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgement
• Recommend and develop security measures in post implementation analysis of business usage to ensure successful system design and functionality
• Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and install and assist customer exposure systems
• Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes
• Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts
• Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
• Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
• Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Technical skills

• Solid 5+ years of experience with Java development
• Hands-on experience with RESTful service implementations.
• Experience and familiarity building modern Spring applications with Spring Boot
• Experience building Distributed / Service Oriented / Microservice-style and cloud based architectures (Amazon, ECS, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes)
• Hands on experience with Jenkins, TeamCity, Sonar Cube, BitBucket
• Strong understanding of different storage architectures and their appropriate application.
• Experience in software development SDLC (Agile)
• Excellent knowledge of Multithreading, Thread-Pools with strong OOP and OOAD skills
• Experienced in developing real time low latency applications
• Exposure to or experience in message driven architectures

Desirable

• Prior Investment Banking Risk system experience is highly desirable
• Experience in message broker
• Exposure with Clojure will be big plus

Education

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
