Job summary

The Globe and Mail is seeking a Senior iOS Developer in Toronto to architect, build, test and ship new features for our iOS app. You will work with Product, UX Design, QA, Web Development and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality mobile experiences for readers in Canada and worldwide.

This is a hybrid role based in Toronto. You will prioritize feature development and maintenance, contribute to architecture discussions, and mentor peers while upholding high standards for performance,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience developing iOS apps with Swift and extensive UI work in SwiftUI/UIKit.
• Strong knowledge of async patterns (GCD, Combine, Swift concurrency) including async/await and actors.
• Experience with memory management, app lifecycle events, modular design, DI and protocol-oriented programming.
• Ability to design mobile solutions aligned with Apple guidelines, security and privacy requirements.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and App Store release workflows.
• Experience with testing (Swift Test) and performance tools (Instruments, Crashlytics, Sentry).

Responsibilities

• Prioritize daily activities between new feature development and maintenance of the existing codebase.
• Participate in architecture sessions and design reviews.
• Maintain high code quality and app reliability; own the codebase effectively.
• Share insights and promote iOS development best practices to improve the app.
• Mentor peers and model strong engineering leadership.
