Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Senior iOS Developer to lead the development of high-performance, secure iOS applications.

You will work with cross-functional teams across IMIT to deliver scalable solutions, integrate with healthcare systems, and ensure compliance with PHIPA and PIPEDA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in application development, including Native iOS development and full stack aspects
• Strong expertise in Swift and SwiftUI
• Comprehensive knowledge of iOS SDKs, frameworks and Apple Human Interface Guidelines
• Experience with MVVM or VIPER architecture
• Experience with testing frameworks and CI/CD
• Knowledge of secure coding practices for protecting patient data
• Experience integrating with healthcare APIs and third-party systems
• Familiarity with tools such as SPM, Cocoapods, Firebase, GA, GitLab Pipelines, Fastlane, TestFlight
• Understanding data privacy standards (PHIPA, PIPEDA)
• Experience with containerization and cloud deployments
• Open-source contributions or published apps; IOS certifications

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the IMIT Manager - Development and Testing, this role will lead the development of innovative, high-performance applications. You will work across cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure applications tailored to user needs.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in application development, including Native iOS application development and expertise in front-end and back-end development and/or platform-specific development
• Strong expertise in Swift, Storyboards/SwiftUI
• Comprehensive knowledge of iOS SDKs, frameworks, and Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines
• Proven experience with architectural patterns like MVVM or VIPER
• Strong experience with testing frameworks and tools
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and processes
• Awareness of secure coding practices for protecting patient data
• Experience integrating with third-party healthcare APIs, such as laboratory systems, insurance providers, or patient monitoring devices
• Familiarity with the following tools and frameworks will be considered an asset: SPM, Cocoapods, Firebase & GA, Gitlab Pipelines, Fastlane, TestFlight
• Familiarity with data privacy and security standards for handling sensitive health-related information (e.g., Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Privacy of Personal Health Information Act (PHIPA)
• Experience with containerization and cloud-based deployment.
• Contributions to open-source projects or published apps in the App Store
• Certification in iOS development or related technologies

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Scale Type: Non-Union
Band: 5
Hourly Rate: $45.75 - $56.04
Annual Salary: $89,205 - $109,276
