Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Monitoring QA Lead to establish and run the independent I&M QA function supporting construction in Vancouver, BC. You will turn monitoring data, trigger notifications, and field conditions into controlled engineering actions across shift-based operations.

The role requires strong geotechnical judgment and leadership of continuous coverage on active fronts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical or geological engineering; a relevant master’s degree is preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration in British Columbia, or eligibility to obtain registration promptly, is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, including senior responsibility for geotechnical instrumentation, construction monitoring and interpretation on major infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience developing or administering Response Action Plans, trigger-action frameworks or observational-method monitoring systems.
• Strong experience with deep excavations, piling, ground improvement, dewatering, retaining systems, foundations and the monitoring of ground and structural response.
• Experience with automated monitoring dashboards, data validation, alert configuration and investigation of anomalous readings or data interruptions.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in time-critical construction situations and communicate clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Excellent technical writing, decision logging and quality-assurance skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the I&M QA procedures, dashboard and trend reviews, trigger verification, investigations, escalations, reporting, and handovers.
• Lead a comprehensive technical audit of existing data and instrumentation, examining data integrity, calibration, and system performance.
• Scrutinize proposed instrumentation against IFC requirements, monitoring plans, and project risks.
• Ensure the centralized dashboard accuracy mapping instrument names, locations, and thresholds, with reliable notification logic.
• Lead validation when amber or red triggers emerge, testing against raw data and nearby indicators.
• Coordinate engineering assessments with professionals and discipline specialists, separating facts from interpretation.
• Activate or recommend enhanced monitoring and site controls per the approved plan.
• Maintain and update the Response Action Plan, decision trees, and distribution lists for quick action.
