Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Inspector for municipal infrastructure projects based in and around the Leamington, ON area. The role focuses on road reconstructions, water distribution, and sanitary/storm pipelines, with on-site field oversight throughout the project.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of field experience on water infrastructure projects.
• Must hold a valid ON driving license and have access to a vehicle.
• Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Certified Technician (C.Tech).
• OACETT membership and RCJI credential are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Liaison on site with contractor, client, and authorities; address resident concerns.
• Oversee daily on-site operations and ensure conformance to specs.
• Coordinate with Project Engineer/PM to meet project requirements.
• Maintain daily logs, reporting, and project documentation.
• Schedule and conduct regular project meetings with contractor and client.
• Provide direction to contractor with support from Project Engineer.
• Monitor quality, safety, and compliance with codes and drawings.

Job Description

AECOM is searching for a Senior Inspector for municipal infrastructure projects in this new role. Projects primarily consist of road reconstructions, water distribution, sanitary/storm pipelines and water resources and are based in and around the Leamington, ON area.

Responsibilities

• Liaison on site with contractor, client, other approving authorities, including addressing resident concerns
• Oversee daily on-site operations
• Work closely with the Project Engineer and Project Manager, to ensure construction is in compliance with project specifications
• Preparation and maintenance of daily work logs and other project documentation and reporting;
• Schedule and conduct regular project meetings with the contractor and client
• Provide clarification of drawings and direction to the contractor, with remote support from the Project Engineer
• Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
• Carry out surveys and measurements for quantity calculations
• Complete surveys for the preparation of record drawings
• Participates in deficiency reviews, testing and commissioning.
• Assist with the preparation of the Project Construction Completion and Final Acceptance Certificate; and
• Follow AECOM Safety Policies and promote them by example
• Training of entry-level employees.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant experience in a field role on water infrastructure projects
• Valid ON Driving license and access to vehicle
• Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.); Certified Technician (C.Tech)
• Member of Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT); Road Construction Junior Inspector (rcji);
• Ability to work unsupervised in a remote location

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with inspection duties on civil, water and wastewater construction projects greater than $10M or road reconstructions, water distribution systems, sewage collection systems, sewage pumping stations, sanitary sewer rehabilitation projects, etc.
• Construction methods of open cut, watertight closed sheeting, vertical trenching and all other trenchless technologies
• Demonstrated surveying experience
• Ability to document inspection and prepare field reports
• Attention to details and proactive planning is an essential skill
• Familiar with materials testing procedures and construction coordination services
• Ability to read and interpret Civil construction drawings and specifications
• AutoCAD and Civil 3D is an asset

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $70000 to $100000.
