Ontario Public Service (OP S) and its Digital, Data, Information and Business Services Branch is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Project Manager to drive strategic infrastructure projects and investment planning that support ministry priorities in Durham Region.

You will work with ministry programs to operate and manage existing infrastructure and assets, define requirements, and implement long-range investment strategies and plans while coordinating with clients and central agencies to meet

Qualifications

  • Experience developing facility strategies and business cases to support senior management decisions.
  • Knowledge of architectural design, building codes, health and safety regulations, space planning, ergonomics, security considerations.
  • Ability to define requirements and implement long-range investment strategies and plans.
  • Experience in a public sector context and coordinating with multiple agencies.

Join our team as a Senior Infrastructure Project Manager and drive strategic infrastructure projects and investment planning that support ministry priorities.

The Ministry of Natural Resources is the steward of Ontario's provincial parks, forests, fisheries, wildlife, mineral aggregates, and the Crown lands and waters that make up 87 per cent of the province. As a field-based organization, have representation in many communities and have demonstrated experience in supporting government-wide initiatives.

About the job

In this role, you will:

  • work with ministry line programs to support the operation and management of the ministry's existing infrastructure/assets and accommodation
  • define requirements and implement the ministry's long-range investment strategies and plans
  • consult and coordinate with ministry clients and central agencies to ensure the local and corporate objectives are met
  • advise ministry programs and senior management
  • be a key resource for the further development of a professional project management function in the ministry
Specialized knowledge
  • demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of accommodation, facilities management, and planning, with emphasis on a public sector context
  • proven ability to develop facility strategies, plans, and associated business cases to support senior management decision-making
  • knowledge of architectural design, facilities building codes, legislation, health and safety regulations, space planning, ergonomics, barrier-free requirements, security, construction, and inspection practices
Analyzing and problem-solving skills
  • assess client requirements and develop options or solutions
  • analyze requests and data and prepare financial and analytical reports for management
  • negotiate solutions involving several competing interests, identify project gaps and delays, and prioritize project workload requirements
Interpersonal and communication skills
  • consultation and negotiation skills to provide sound advice to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders
  • ability to produce effective written correspondence, reports, project templates, and other documentation
Project management and organizational skills
  • ability to plan, direct, and control multiple large-scale projects, including procurement planning and contract administration
  • demonstrated success in coordinating service relationships, project teams, and their activities
Computer skills
  • proficiency with computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, AutoCAD, project management and database information systems, correspondence logging and tracking systems, and records retention systems
