Your Opportunity

The Water Resources Group has an opportunity for a Senior Hydrologist or Water Resources Engineer in British Columbia to join our growing team of water resources specialists, engineers, and scientists with a strong focus on mining water management. The position will ideally be located in either Burnaby, Victoria, or Sidney, British Columbia but there is flexibility for our other offices in British Columbia.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Leading hydrology and water resources components of projects from baseline assessments through permitting, operations, and closure.

  • Developing mine water management plans, water balances, and water management infrastructure designs.

  • Hydrological modelling (e.g., HEC-HMS, Raven) and assessment (e.g., flood frequency analysis and regional analysis), and incorporation of climate change into predictive models.

  • Assisting in environmental flow needs (EFN) assessments, fish habitat loss assessments, habitat offsetting studies, and designs related to habitat compensation plans.

  • Managing tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work, delivering quality reports on schedule and within budget.

  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior and intermediate staff.

  • Interacting with clients, environmental regulators, and community stakeholders.

  • Contributing to proposal development, client presentations, and business growth initiatives.

  • Consistent demonstration and promotion of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (if applicable).

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Registration as a professional geoscientist or engineer (P.Geo. or P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, or qualifications to obtain this registration at the start of employment.

  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, including technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, government agencies, as well as non-technical communication to the public.

  • Disciplined approach to project execution and technical excellence, and a desire to grow in your career in a challenging environment that fosters self‑improvement through leadership, mentoring and a diversity of experience.

  • Leadership in striving to continuously improve technical performance.

Your Education and Experience
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Geoscience, or Engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum 10 years related experience.

  • Experience with GoldSim, R, and hydrological datasets (e.g., ERA5) would be an asset.

  • Mining experience and experience with incorporation of Climate Change effects into hydrologic assessments.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:

• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 112,300.00 - Max Salary $ 168,500.00
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 119,000.00 - Max Salary $ 178,600.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
