As Senior Hydrogeologist you will join our Guelph, Ontario office as part of our Eastern Groundwater team and will collaborate with our multi-disciplinary teams. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of activities with responsibilities as follows:

  • Consulting activities relating to municipal planning, groundwater supply, and stormwater projects, large-scale industrial groundwater supply and dewatering projects including business development, data analysis, technical review, client interaction, mentoring and reporting
  • Managing investigations from wellhead/wellhouse to regional scale groundwater systems in unconsolidated and bedrock settings to support water supply management, natural resource/infrastructure development, maintaining or enhancing ecosystem function
  • Provide technical and project management support for a wide range of hydrogeology projects including: Regional and local hydrogeological assessments, and regulatory groundwater monitoring programs
  • Leading design and execution of drilling and well testing, optimization, and monitoring programs
  • Providing advice to internal and external clients related to meeting groundwater supply demand and maintaining groundwater and surface water quantity and quality connections to environmental receptors and systems for successful project outcomes
  • Training, mentoring and coaching of engineers and scientists aimed at building individual and organizational capacity in hydrogeology, water supply and dewatering
  • Business development efforts including client outreach and relationship development/maintenance for existing and new clients, as well as development of presentations and proposals
  • Participate in and contribute to meetings, workshops and training sessions with clients, including preparing and delivering presentations for clients, industry association and research collaborations
  • Developing strong internal and external networks to support the awareness of hydrogeology expertise within Montrose and externally to our clients

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in physical hydrogeology with specific experience in municipal and large-scale water supply management and permitting.
  • Undergraduate degree in geology, civil or environmental engineering, environmental sciences, geography or related disciplines
  • Graduate degree in a relevant hydrogeology field.
  • Ability to lead, drive and support projects providing technical accountability and mentorship in delivering quality work for clients, on time and budget.
  • Ability to work within an integrated team of water resources engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, geologists, geochemists, and ecologists.
  • Experience in geological and numerical modelling and/or its application is considered an asset.
  • Project management experience in a consulting services organization
  • Professional registration as a Professional Geoscientist with Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (PGO) or Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills, including client, stakeholder and/or First Nations engagement.
