Job summary

GE Vernova in Canada seeks a skilled Commissioning Engineer / Field Service Tester to lead pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, testing, and maintenance of high-voltage electrical equipment and systems. You will ensure safe installation, testing, troubleshooting, and customer handover of critical power infrastructure.

The role requires coordinating site teams, managing schedules and NCRs, mentoring junior staff, and traveling extensively (60–75%).

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 5 years of field experience in electrical power systems.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, testing and maintenance activities.
Perform and supervise electrical and mechanical testing of HV components (circuit breakers, GIS, transformers, generators, turbines, protection and control systems).
Lead site teams, technicians, contractors, vendors and subcontractors.
Coordinate daily site activities and commissioning schedules.
Troubleshoot complex technical problems and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
Manage punch lists, NCRs, technical issues, site instructions and documentation.
Review drawings, SLDs, specs, procedures and test results.
Support customer coordination, energization and acceptance testing.
