Job summary

Shared Health Manitoba is seeking a Senior Human Resources Consultant to deliver comprehensive HR services across several portfolios. The role emphasizes employee and labour relations, organizational design, talent management, learning and engagement, with coordination through the Health Sciences Centre reporting structure.

The successful candidate will have at least seven years’ unionized HR experience, a relevant undergraduate degree, and a HR certification (CPHR preferred).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in a unionized environment performing a broad range of Human Resource functions.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Certificate in Human Resource Management from a recognized post-secondary institution with combination of experience.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide HR services and consultation to support clients in multiple areas within the portfolio.
  • Involve performance management, attendance management, employee and labour relations including contract interpretation and disciplinary processes.
  • Support organizational design, job descriptions, and organizational effectiveness planning.
  • Lead talent management, learning plans, and development for individuals and teams.
  • Oversee employee engagement initiatives and HR metrics reporting.
  • Lead talent acquisition and recruitment using LinkedIn and other platforms, including onboarding.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Shared Health Manitoba is building an outstanding human resources team that will be critical in helping us achieve our organizational vision being the health employer of choice in Canada. Shared Health Manitoba leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Reporting to the Director or Designate, Human Resource Services, Health Sciences Centre, the Senior Human Resource Consultant is responsible for the provision of human resource services and consultation to support clients in one or more areas within a portfolio including:

  • Management Support – performance management, attendance management.
  • Employee & Labour Relations – contract interpretation, application of progressive discipline up to and including dismissal, grievance handling, investigation of workplace complaints, conducting exit interviews and collective bargaining.
  • Organizational design – support clients in organizational design and re-design, expertise in reviewing and writing job descriptions, organizational effectiveness planning and implementation, team building expertise and coaching.
  • Talent Management – experience in supporting talent management implementation, developing learning plans that are linked to talent management assessments and future role development.
  • Learning, Education and Development – supporting employee and leadership education, learning and development, writing and supporting learning plans for individuals and teams.
  • Employee Engagement – experience in leading employee engagement initiatives which create a great work environment.
  • HR Metrics and Reporting – using metrics, data and reporting in supporting client needs and identifying areas of emphasis for workplace improvement.
  • Talent Acquisition and Recruitment – expertise in leading and supporting recruitments, using LinkedIn and other social media platforms, experience in supporting sourcing, interviews, reference checks, onboarding and orientation.

This position supports the execution of key strategic Human Resources initiatives and is required to build and maintain effective working relationships with leadership roles to support the completion of day to day HR processes and procedure.

The Senior Human Resources Consultant functions in a manner consistent with, and supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Shared Health.

Experience
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in a unionized environment performing a broad range of Human Resource functions including: employee relations, labour relations, and staffing.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Certificate in Human Resource Management from a recognized post-secondary institution with combination of experience.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation preferred.
Qualifications And Skills
  • The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is primarily in an office environment.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and competing demands.
  • A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check is conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. (A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment).
