Senior HR Business Partner

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Business Partner to join a busy manufacturing facility in Cornwall.

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources and partnering very closely with the Operations leadership teams at the facility, you will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day HR/LR related matters including investigations, talent acquisition, policy follow‑through, employee relations, and performance management. This position provides support to employees on a variety of Human Resources functions. Qualifications:
  • Post‑secondary degree/education in Human Resources; CHRP or working toward CHRP designation is an asset.
  • 5 years’ direct experience in a specialized HR/LR experience including: Hands‑on HR role
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment industry
  • Extensive working knowledge of Employment Standards, Human Rights, and Labor legislation required
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent communication skills combined with demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Results oriented, self‑starter with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Superior collaborative and teamwork skills with the ability to quickly shift priorities to meet organization requirements collectively.
  • Strong professionalism and diplomacy pertaining to all areas of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
In this role you will:
  • Assist in the negotiations of collective agreements, mediate labor disputes and grievances and provide advice on employee and labor relations.
  • Conduct and lead internal investigations.
  • Develop and maintain effective key stakeholders’ relationships within client groups and provide your support in HR related matters.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Human Resources, the HR team and business leaders to ensure alignment of programs and policies with overall strategic direction.
  • Support the execution of HR strategies, policies, procedures, and programs to sustain continued growth and retention.
  • Respond to questions from management and employees on a variety of HR matters and escalating higher level and serious matters to Director of HR.
  • Facilitate day to day employee/labor relations, including complaint resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Strong teamwork orientation as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Provide support and assist with hourly and salaried personnel recruitment and provide onboarding support to hiring managers.
  • Assist in implementing various HR initiatives, including providing recommendations on process improvements.
  • Other HR projects as assigned by Management.
