The Senior Health and Benefits Actuarial Consultant will serve as an experienced signing Health Actuary. You will manage a significant portfolio of actuarial Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) clients. You will review, sign off on, and deliver OPEB valuation results, accounting year-end disclosures, budget expenses, and projections. In addition, you will serve as a primary financial contact for clients while providing direction to analysts, associates, and senior associates.

We will count on you to:

  • Perform and review complex analyses and cost projections using tools such as Excel and in-house software, with a specialization in healthcare-related insurance areas.
  • Draft and review client reports and presentations that summarize valuation and accounting results, recommend actuarial assumptions, and propose solutions or plan design changes.
  • Manage day-to-day client interactions, resolve project-related questions, and guide junior team members in client management.
  • Assist senior team members with business development efforts by identifying growth opportunities and supporting proposal responses.
  • Contribute to the development of intellectual capital and expand knowledge of health insurance actuarial services and products.
  • Lead routine client engagements, managing overall service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewals, flex-pricing, benchmarking, and other projects related to underwriting health and welfare insurance.
What you need to have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • At least seven years of experience in an actuarial field, with health and benefits consulting experience.
  • Must have achieved, or be progressing toward, Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) designation.
What makes you stand out?
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
  • Ability to partner with and lead teams to deliver project objectives, while also working independently and collaboratively.
Why join our team:

  • We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
