Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking an experienced senior lawyer to provide and manage legal and regulatory guidance across products and initiatives. You will influence major decisions, negotiate outcomes, and serve as the subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years of legal practice, a JD or LLB license, and experience in private practice or in-house roles within a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of legal practice or equivalent experience.
• Licensed to practice law in relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience in private practice, in-house, or regulatory body related to business activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide and manage legal and regulatory advice on products, initiatives, strategies, policies and developments for BMO Financial Group.
• Influence and negotiate to achieve business objectives while minimizing legal risk.
• Act as SME for internal/external stakeholders on applicable laws and policies.
• Deliver legal advice and instruct external counsel, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation actions; resolve moderately complex issues.
• Support senior leaders with strategy and new initiatives.
