Opportunity: Join a collaborative Ground Engineering team tackling geotechnical challenges across Northern Ontario (North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Timmins, or Thunder Bay). You will work closely with our professionals, collaborate with industry experts, and work on various projects in Northern Ontario and throughout the rest of Ontario and potentially across the country. What you can expect to do here
  • Assist in the growth of WSP’s Geotechnical Engineering presence in Northern Ontario by growing our private, public sector and indigenous community geotechnical engineering client base and project portfolio.
  • Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • Facilitate site investigations, soil and rock sampling, and geotechnical analysis.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, designs, and recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and technical staff.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client meetings/presentations, team development, as well as site visits across Northern Ontario.
  • Stay current with advancements in geotechnical engineering and incorporate new technologies and methodologies into projects.
What You’ll Bring to WSP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Registered as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant (post‑degree) working experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on consulting and/or project management.
  • A track record in business development, including a strong existing client base is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in customer services, client management and proposal/report writing.
  • Strong technical knowledge in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software and tools.
  • Strong technical writing, interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • An Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Sense of initiative, attention to detail & team spirit.
  • Commitment to safe work practices for yourself and your colleagues.
